Out of mum’s house: 9:03am

I didn’t get to see my little girl this morning but that was because I had an urgent errand to run at 8.30am. I had hoped to be back in time to see her but I didn’t get finished until 9.15am. I had arranged to run this errand when I knew my wife would be able to walk my little girl to school so one of us was still there.

My wife told me this morning that she was very down when she came out of her mum’s this morning. Head down all the way. She wouldn’t tell her what was wrong or if anything happened though so we don’t know what was wrong with her. My wife saw her on Saturday and asked if she was at a party as she looked very pretty but everything my wife asked my little girl got just a one word answer. By the time she got to school her to the school gate, my little girl was at least smiling.

I will get to see her this afternoon.

10 January 2009

My little girl came into where my wife works today with X, Y and her younger brother. She didn’t acknowledge my wife, head was down and she was sitting in a trolley with her shoes off and a little skimpy dress on (no tights, socks, vest / t-shirt or coat). Now bearing in mind that in this part of the country it will be around 2 – 3 degrees (maybe colder) at the time of year, I’m unsure why she was dressed like that.

I just can’t help but shake my head when I hear things like this. The coat could have been my little girl not wanting to wear it, but the socks / tights / vest need to be on her. I just despair sometimes. Maybe I’m being overly-critical as I don’t know all the facts but sitting on this side of the fence and seeing what I’ve seen it can be difficult to give people the benefit of the doubt.

The worst part of all of this is the look my little girl has – head down. We are seeing this more and more now, on and off, for some reason. I tink she is just fed-up but we don’t seem to get much out of her. I normally try and find out what is wrong and when I don’t get a response, I just tell my little girl that we both love her and that she can talk to us any time and leave it at that. Sometimes she then talks to us about it. Sometimes not. As long as she feels comfortable enough to know that she CAN talk about it then that is fine.

My little girl was very excited today as she was coming to spend some time with us. But mummy had told her that she had to go home first which I already knew. I still don’t understand why she has to go home when she is due to come with me at 3.30pm. If you look back over the times when she get’s back to her mum’s house it is just before 3.30pm.

I was very apprehensive about this morning. First day back to school after the holidays. My little girl was very early. Heard her hosuting “DADDY” and I looked in my car mirror from down the street and couldn’t even see her. Then I saw her running around the corner. You’ve no idea the size of the smile thta puts on your face. I got a big hug, as did my wife, and we got into the car to drive to school. She had a lot of things to tell us about her Xmas since we saw her. It doesn’t appear that she has done anything over New Year though.

All in all a good day!

Out of mum’s house: 9:05am

My wife and I were talking this morning before my little girl came out of mum’s house. On Sunday (the 16th November) my wife saw my little girl where she works. My little girl shot her a secret wave and then put her head down.

Out of mum’s house: 8:50am

Back to mum’s house: 3:28pm

My mum and dad came up to see my wife and I on Monday and they came with us today to take my little girl to and from school.

The first thing my little girl did when she came out of her mum’s house is shout ‘DADDY’ at the top of the voice. She hasn’t see me for over a fortnight but the very FIRST thing she does when she comes out of the house is shout for meĀ  Bear in mind she couldn’t see me or the car the morning as I was parked in front of another car. She knows I’m there every morning. She knows when she shouts on me, I’m there regardless of how long she doesn’t see me for.

I try and make sure my little girl knows, especially just before holiday periods (summer, Easter, October, Xmas etc.) that my wife and I love her, will never ever stop loving her no matter how long it is before she sees us again. I feel it’s really really important for her to know that. I know she has a hard time at her mum’s so I feel that she needs to know that we are here for her.
